Matt Gill is our very first Runners Grove Run Club runner of the month.
Matt started running in high school and has run, barring injury, ever since. He started running with the running club when it first began in 2006, and enjoys the togetherness, camaraderie and constant encouragement the other runners give. He believes that his running has improved greatly as a result of the support of the other members. Matt’s wife Allison used to think that runners were all part of some kind of crazy cult. Now she has joined our cult and drank the blue Gatorade too! Matt’s favorite place to train is Bullfrog Lake. “I love this course because of its challenging terrain and tranquil setting. I started running here in high school and fell in love with it immediately.” Matt’s favorite race is the Chicago Half Marathon. “The course is flat and fast and takes you along Chicago's south lake front. You can get some beautiful views of our city's skyline while racing this course. The race is well organized and the technical shirts and medals are top notch. If you're looking for a PR or a marathon tune up, this is your race.” When he prepares for a race, his pre-race routine is, “Metal. Lots of heavy metal music.”
Matt’s PRs are: 5k--18:27 10K--39:20 13.1--1:23:11 26.2--3:15:33.
